Hargeisa (CYN) - Do World Bank top leaders aware of what happening in somaliland. ?


The World Bank is like a cooperative, made up of 189 member countries although Somaliland is not a part of these countries, World Bank operates acting as Somaliland still a part of Somalia. However, Somaliland is self-determination Republic and established a system of democratic governance and embarked upon an ambitious development agenda including development of a National Development Plan (NDP 2012-16, since it’sbroke away from Somalia in1991.

Farhan Ogleh is a Somaliland entrepreneur, who live in Burao, second largest city in Somaliland, he criticized way of world bank projects were managed and process of selecting to an applicantin Somaliland "most of the projects funded by the World Bank became a failure, because of nepotism and initial investment were based, friendship, tribalism and corruption” said Farhan.

World Bank was functioning to Somaliland last two decades to decrease unemployment and strength Somaliland’s planning and budgeting processes, both private and public sectors while there were not any successful projects funded by World Bank in Somaliland.

" I was an applicants of Somaliland business fund, all process were astray , winners were already selective people and select committee was family of Nagiib Hashi owner of mount royal hotel in hargeisa who responsible the world bank in Somaliland , all things were far away from the justice ” Said Fatima .

Most committable project funded by World Bank was a Somaliland business fund to enhancing the private sector in Somaliland to made growth GDP, purpose of a failure was a mismanagement according to civil societies "World bank leaders in Somaliland, they dally their time to be friends of ministers and other officials, they are not accountable to government, and there is monitoring and evaluation” said Mohamed .



"Ensuring that unequal opportunities do not lead to unequal outcomes depends on, among other things, a review of the Fund’s communications strategies and eligibility criteria by Somaliland Business Fund donors.” Liban Ahmed


Why all World Bank Projects became failed?


Mohamed Salad is a Somali scholar, studied the project management and investment, he explained why projects carried out by world Bank always is not successful projects "Whenwe making investment like SDF projects those who world bank funded, it should be considered, where appropriate, and when appropriate, for example, we saw the failed projects were not right area to implemented”. Mohamed said

" gums and resin can be implemented in Sanaag region , the salt can be implemented in the coastal areas , like Saahil and Awdal , fishing can be implemented only suitable areas , if someone who resident in hargeisa wants to gums and resin, I think it is not possible according to availability and our culture , that biggest mistake world bank leader did .” Mohamed added his speech.
